The Mid-Atlantic Gateway is building a list of all known NWA world title matches to take place in the Mid-Atlantic territory, beginning with the 1970s, and will then move to the 1960s and 1980s. The purpose of this section is to provide a record of when the NWA champion was in the area and to document which wrestlers were receiving title shots. Results are not offered. (See below for more.) The first pages are for a six year period of 1970-1975. Check back for additional years which will be added over time. While these lists are close to complete, we believe we are missing a few title matches. If you have information on an NWA title match we don't have listed here, please let us know at the Mid-Atlantic Gateway.
The purpose of the section is to provide a record of when the NWA champion was in the area and to document which wrestlers were receiving title shots. A frequently asked question is: why no results? If I had reliable results, and for all matches and not selected matches, I'd post them. If you are familiar with newspaper clippings from the period, especially when you move into the 1970s, you know how unreliable and sporadic they were. No attempt was made to gather meaningful results from the clippings which were used to compile these lists. Suffice it to say, the champion retained his title.
