2008 DINNER BANQUET &
AWARDS CEREMONY
The 2008 Hall of Heroes Banquet and
Induction Ceremony was filled with tradition, celebration, and great
fun. The event was a huge success. Look for photos and reports here
over the next weeks, and information regarding the 2009 Hall of Heroes event
is coming
soon.
Inductees for the Hall of Heroes Class
of 2008 included
"Number One" Paul Jones, "The Russian Bear," Ivan Koloff,
Thunderbolt
Patterson, "Freebird" Buddy Roberts, Sandy Scott,
Grizzly Smith
(known to many long time Mid-Atlantic fans as Tiny Anderson of the
Kentuckians), and "The Dean of Professional Wrestling" Johnny Weaver. These legends
were
honored for their lifetime accomplishments at the second-annual Hall
of Heroes dinner banquet and awards ceremony Friday night, August 15
during the NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, North
Carolina.
Joining us that evening to induct the
Class of 2008 were wrestling legends Jack Brisco, Don
Kernodle, Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, Magnum TA, and Hall of Heroes Class of
2007 members Ole Anderson, Bob Caudle, and Rip Hawk. The 2008 banquet and induction ceremony
was hosted by Chris Cruise.
2007 Hall of Heroes inductees included
Gene and Ole Anderson, George
Scott, Penny Banner, Rip Hawk, Swede Hanson, and
Bob Caudle. The 2007 banquet and induction ceremony was
hosted by Jim Cornette.
