Ric Flair vs. Billy Starr at WRAL Studio (1980)

Ric Flair vs. Billy Starr from "World Wide Wrestling" in 1980 at WRAL TV-5 studio in Raleigh, NC. The commentary is by Rich Landrum and Johnny Weaver.

This taped match aired on "NWA Championship Wrestling" from the Knoxville territory in November of 1981. The wrap-arounds are shot in the WBIR TV-10 studios and are hosted by Les Thatcher, the voice of Knoxville wrestling for many years.

A nice match with a look at Ric Flair at that time in his full aggressive babyface role, including the Ric Flair strut which was much different (and better in my opinion) than the Fargo-like strut he bagan using in the 1990s and especially the 2000s. He was in the middle of a long feud with "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka over the United States championship at the time.

This video will also be posted on the Studio Wrestling website, as both a record of the WRAL studio and a chance to hear Rich Landrum and Johnny Weaver on "World Wide Wrestling."
