Second Round of "Greatest U.S. Champion" Tournament Rolls On

Mike Rickard's "Greatest U.S. Champion of All Time Tournament" rolls on with the second match in the second round.

This week "No. 1" Paul Jones battles the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Second round!

These two had an on-again / off-again feud over many years in the Mid-Atlantic area. Their battles involved title changes with the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team (1974), Mid-Atlantic TV (1975), and NWA World Tag Team Titles (1979), and the two fought over the U.S. title on numerous occasions as well, although the belt was never traded between the two. Jones was also a key part of the long drawn out story-line when Ric Flair first turned babyface in 1979.

Fitting, then, that they meet in Rickard's booking of this fun fantasy tournament.
